Do you ever catch yourself playing small?
I am going through a group coaching program right now with my coach. We are studying and talking about our true identity. Today on our group call the topic of playing small came up.
How often do we try to stay small because we were told growing up to be humble or don’t make a spectacle of yourself? (Especially if you grew up in church.)
Factor in having a dutiful or withdrawn Enneagram type and that early programming can downright paralyze you.
I’ve spent most of my life playing small. Recently though I had a situation where I spoke up and only then were my strengths & gifts allowed to truly shine.
Aligning with My Values
So I’ve spent this winter season contemplating what speaking up about my strengths looks like. How do I own my stregnths with confidence, but also humility. I’m learning that leading myself well means owning my strengths, my superpowers.
By not playing it small and stepping into my strengths I am lowering the inner stress I feel. I’m aligning more with my top core values of presence, peace, and purpose.
What about you? Where do you struggle to speak up and step into your gifts and strengths?
Do You Know Your Gifts & Strengths?
Maybe you aren’t even sure what your strengths and gifts look like. If that’s you and you want to start stepping into your strengths with more confidence I would love to help you.
One of my strengths is being able to see the big picture view, but also see how all the different aspects thread together at the ground level view. As a coach, I can help you see the smaller areas AND how they all thread together in the bigger picture of you.
A coach can come alongside you to help uncover your strengths and give a different perspective and encourage you in your strengths.
